Android Game Devlog 5 – Cannons, GUI, new Textures (LibGDX)

I’m programming a Java Android 2D game!

This time I changed A LOT. I created the user interface, added cannons, stars, decoration and completely remade all of the textures. The game looks AWESOME now 😀

Please subscribe if you love programming just as I do and do not want to miss the following episodes 😉 If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section below.

▶ What do I use for Java game application development?
IDE: Intellij Community Edition (Eclipse is unfortunately no longer officially supported by Android)
Programming Language: Java
Java Framework: LibGDX (Android)

▶ Who are you?
Hi, my name is Lukas and I have been developing Java and Android software since I was 13 years old. With this video series I want to inspire and motivate other developers to continue working on their projects. I love to program and develop all kinds of stuff from 3d games to webpages to Android apps.

▶ What is LibGDX?
LibGDX is an open-source and free game-development application framework written in the Java programming language with some C and C++ components for performance dependent code. It allows for the development of desktop and mobile games by using the same code base. It is cross-platform, supporting Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android, iOS, BlackBerry and web browsers with WebGL support. LibGDX bases on LWJGL, a Java framework that has been used to program a variety of software, including the popular Java indie game called Minecraft.

For my German viewers, here is a great LibGDX tutorial series by The Morpheus Tutorials:

Should you Learn C++ in 2018?

Learn web development fast:
Learn Python and OOP:

C++ is the engine building programming language that you use when you need super high performance.

These days, in the age ultra fast CPU’s and mature development platforms, its’ use will probably continue over time … especially since Swift runs nearly as fast as C++ at run-time …and without all the C++ hassles.
