ViewFlipper – Android Studio Tutorial

In this video we will learn how to use the ViewFlipper widget, which is a subclass of ViewAnimator and makes it easy to switch between different views at runtime.
We can set animations on it either in XML with android:inAnimation and android:outAnimation or in Java code with setInAnimation and setOutAnimation.
With showPrevious and showNext we can flip between views, or alternatively we can let the ViewFlipper switch views automatically either by calling startFlipping after setting an interval with setFlipInterval, or by setting autoStart to true.
With addView we can add dynamically created views to the ViewFlipper in Java code, like a TextView for example.

Start App on Boot – Android Studio Tutorial

In this video we will learn how to automatically start an activity when we boot up the device, by registering a BOOT_COMPLETED broadcast receiver and starting a new intent in it’s onReceive method.
On this intent we have to set the FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK because we want to call startActivity from outside of an activity context.
To receive the boot broadcasts we have to add the RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED permission into the manifest file.
On some devices, BOOT_COMPLETED will not be triggered when the device gets restarted, so we will also add the QUICKBOOT_POWERON intent filter.

ConstraintLayout Tutorial Part 4 – BARRIERS AND GROUPS – Android Studio Tutorial

In part 4 of the ConstraintLayout tutorial, we will learn how to use some of the new features and helpers of version 1.1.0 of the ConstraintLayout.
We will set the app:layout_constrainedWidth attribute to true to make a view with a width of wrap_content shrink to it’s constraints’ width if they are smaller than it’s wrap_content width. And vice versa there is also an app:layout_constrainedHeight attribute for the height.
We will also learn how to use the app:layout_constraintWidth_percent and app:layout_constraintHeight_percent attributes to set the size of a view as a percentage of the parent layout, and how to use barriers to move views dynamically when other views grow in size, by referencing them in the app:constraint_referenced_ids attribute. With the app:barrierAllowsGoneWidgets attribute we can change if the barrier should be constrained by widgets with a visibility of gone.
And lastly we will learn how to reference and use groups to change the visibility state of multiple views at once, either directly in xml or in Java code.

Simple App Widget – Android Studio Tutorial

In this tutorial we will learn, how to create a simple home screen app widget that contains a button and opens the MainActivity when we click it.
For this we will create a widget layout, an AppWidgetProvider class and an AppWidgetProviderInfo xml file. In the AppWidgetProvider java file we will then override onUpdate and create a PendingIntent which brings us to our MainActivity. We set this intent on our widget button with help of the RemoteViews class and then update our widget with the appWidgetManager object. We repeat this process for all instances of our widget by looping through the appWidgetIds int array.
In the app widget info xml file, we define the update frequency with updatePeriodMillis, the widgetCategory, minHeight, minWidth, minResizeWidth, initialLayout and more.
Lastly we register our AppWidgetProvider in the AndroidManifest.xml file as a broadcast receiver with the APPWIDGET_UPDATE intent filter. We register our appwidget info object in the meta data tag with android.appwidget.provider.
Our widget will have a previewImage which we create with help of the Widget Preview app and it will be resizable.

What You Need to Know to be a Front End Developer in 2018

Learn Front End Development skills at Treehouse with a free 7-day trial! http://bit.ly/2sPebQ1

Trends in Front End Development are always changing — what worked yesterday may not work today. This can make being a Front End Developer pretty challenging!

But what’s most challenging about being a Front End Developer is also what’s most exciting – you’re always learning new technologies.

What is a Front End Developer, and how do they fit into the ecosystem of web development?

There are generally two parts to any web application. The front end, or client side, of the web app is everything you see and interact with in the browser as a user of the application.

Then there’s the back end, or server-side of the web application, where the application’s data is saved, updated, manipulated, and sent back to the client side.

Think of your favorite video site. When you click on that video of waterskiing puppies, the video is retrieved from a database and served to you by a server. That’s the back end. The front end displays it for you in the browser, allows you to interact with the video by providing buttons to blow up the video to full screen, pause, rewind, or share with your grandma.

As a web developer, you’ll likely need to have some knowledge of how the front and back ends of an application interact with each other. However, many companies split these roles into two careers – a Front End Developer and a Back End Developer.

Back End Developers use languages like Java, Python, Ruby and PHP to build the behind-the-scenes functionality of a website, such as storing and retrieving user data or securely accepting and storing credit card numbers.

A Front End Developer is a generic term for someone who builds the user-facing parts of websites and applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Nearly every business uses a website or application to communicate to its customers. The world needs the skills of a Front End Developer.

If you search for Front End jobs you’ll find that there are many additional keywords that are thrown into the mix, like Mobile, UX, UI, Web Developer, Full Stack – all of those keywords add additional specificity to what is an assumed base knowledge of how websites and applications are built.

In this video, I’m talking about what you need to know to be a more general, but still awesome Front End Developer.

Technologies you’ll need to learn
• HTML
• CSS
• JavaScript

Tools
• Text Editor – Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text 3, Atom
• Browser Developer Tools – Chrome Dev Tools, Firefox dev tools
• Version Control – Git & GitHub

Other Important Technologies
• Sass / CSS Preprocessing
• JavaScript Libraries: jQuery, React
• JS Frameworks: Angular, Vue.js
• Front End Framework: Bootstrap
• Command Line, CLI
• Module Loading/Bundling Tools: webpack, Rollup, Browserify
• WordPress

Be sure to ask for help in the comments if you need any. Suggestions for future Flutter tutorials are also very welcome! 🙂

Flutter is an SDK owned by Google to create applications for Android and iOS using a single codebase. Flutter uses the Dart programming language (also owned by Google). Flutter was in beta when I released this video, so things might still change a bit. But the SDK is already mature enough to write some cool production apps!

HashSet in Java- Interview Cracker

How HashSet works internally in Java? – Interview Cracker

Today’s topic is How hash set works internally in java?
Let us first understand that:
Hashset allows no duplicates.
Hashset allows only 1 null value.
Hash set works on the principle of hashing.
Hash set only stores elements and NOT key value pair like hash map.
Hash set internally uses hash map for storing elements.
Let us see how elements are added in a hash set?
In hashset, from the add method, the put method of backing hash map is called, where the value, which has to be added in the hash set, becomes key and a constant object called PRESENT is used as value.
Present?? What is it?
Let us see.
In Hash set implementation PRESENT is defined as :
private static final Object PRESENT = new Object();
This is the dummy value to associate with an Object in the backing hash Map.

So we can notice that add method of hashes calls put method of backing hash map object.
It passes the element as key and a constant present is stored as it’s value.
We know that in hash map value may be duplicate but keys should be unique.
That is why hash set has unique values.
Let us see how object is removed in hash set?
Internally, remove method of HashSet calls remove(Object key) method of the HashMap.

Here note that remove(Object key) method of the HashMap returns the Value associated with the key
But note that the remove(Object o) method of the HashSet returns Boolean value
We know that for every value added in HashSet that value becomes Key and the value is always an object called PRESENT
So the value that is returned from the remove(Object key) method of the HashMap is always PRESENT thus the condition map.remove(o)==PRESENT
Now let us see how object is retrieved?
In HashSet there is no get method.
Here iterator is used to iterate through the values of the hash Set.
Internally it will call the keyset of the HashMap.
As values are stored as keys in the HashMap so we’ll get the values stored in the HashSet.

The default initial capacity is 16
The default load factor is 0.75
Also do not forget to refer to our previous tutorial videos for understanding load factor and initial capacity.
Remember that internal working for hash set is an important interview question.

Software Development Competition Find IT 2018 – Mahapati S – Cihna Translator

#FindIT2018
#FindITUGM

12 Dangerous Android Apps You Need to Delete Immediately

Pay attention to the list of the most suspicious apps you may come across in Google Play. Delete them from your phone immediately to protect your personal data and extend the life of your phone.
Their creators promise the apps will optimize your device, extend the life of your battery and protect your phone from viruses. Some of them are even supposed to be lie detectors and defragmentation devices. In fact, all they give you is ads, and what they do is get access to your data and kill your battery. Considering the huge number of apps created every single day, not even Google can keep track and check the safety of all the new programs. So the security of your device mostly depends on you!

SUMMARY
-There was a weather app that allowed the bad guys to avoid two-step authentication and easily get access to banking information of those who installed it.
-Social media apps suck up so much of your device’s energy and kill the battery too.
-Optimizers don’t make your phone’s system faster, they just slow it down and bring you ads as an added bonus.
-Built-in browsers are mostly slow-working and don’t have any protection from data interception.
-Hackers create their own antivirus apps, which can steal users’ personal data and even completely block the phone.
-You have at least two reasons two delete browsers from your phone: they slow it down, and require access to most aspects of the system, so they can even manage your calls.
-You won’t get more memory than your phone had initially, but will provide memory apps with access to your data.
-Lie detector apps are about as useful as crystal balls, but they kill your battery and get access to your contacts and personal data.
-Defragmentation apps don’t work like promised. They can only analyze how much space certain programs take up, use your phone’s resources and collect your personal data.
-You will want to delete this app because it consumes tons of data since it’s full of ads and causes a massive drain of your battery.
-Battery savers and fast chargers can’t really change the speed of your gadget charging, but can give you endless apps even on lock screen.
-If you don’t want these apps to get access to all your data, avoid them at all costs.

Fragment to Fragment/Activity Communication – Android Studio Tutorial

In this video we will learn how to send data between two fragments. Since fragments should be modular, reusable components, the communication happens over an interface that the underlying activity implements. This way we can send data from a fragment to an activity and from there to another fragment either by calling a public method or by instantiating a new fragment and sending the values as arguments to it.

Example code:
