In this video, I’ll be showing you how to enable free Wi-Fi tethering/mobile hotspot functionality on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher. Normally, most North American carriers block or restrict this feature, but with this simple build.prop edit, you’ll be able to tether to your heart’s content.

Your regular monthly data cap and overage fees will still apply, but you’ll be able to piggyback your mobile data connection over to any device without Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon Wireless knowing about it.

In this video, I’ll be showing you how to activate your mobile hotspot on your Android device without root, even if you have unlimited data and your hotspot has been blocked by your carrier. I have only been able to test this on an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 edge running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so please try it with your device if it is different and let me know if it works or not so I can update the description. In order to do this, you only need three things:
-Package Disabler Pro or any other no-root package disabling apps (only works with Samsung devices; will update description if I find any alternatives)
-Any Wi-Fi network (can be a Chromecast, hotspot device you can no longer use, etc.; Chromecasts can be found on eBay for cheap)
-Any VPN app (I use Betternet in this video, but any other will do)

***SPRINT USERS WITH THE S6 OR LATER: Here is another method to get your hotspot up and running:

A commenter by the name of Jon Streich pointed out to me that Samsung tablets (he used a Tab E) on AT&T can also have their hotspots activated using the same Package Disabler Pro app. He said that all he did was disable the AT&T All Access package and download his own hotspot app (rather than using the stock one), and the hotspot turned on without any problems. Be sure to thank him in the comments if this helped you!
