Ford Freestyle Petrol Review | Cross-hatch done right! | ZigWheels.com

Check new upcoming Ford Freestyle on-road price : https://bit.ly/2GDoz3Z

There simply hasn’t been a middle ground between folks who are adamant about cross-hatches being “nothing more than small cars with cladding”, and the ones who’ve loved them for the added ground clearance and the dash of SUV flavour. The Ford Freestyle might just fix things, though. On paper, it promises to have the correct ingredients and the right amount of distinction. How does this come into play out in the real world, then? Time to dig in, and find out.

The Ford Freestyle is expected to go on sale later this month. Prices are expected to fall in the Rs 6 lakh – Rs 8 lakh bracket. That should give rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the Mahindra KUV100, the Etios Cross and the i20 Active something to worry about.

All New 2018 Ford Freestyle Complete Review including engine, price, mileage, specifications

Ford Freestyle, the new crossover from Ford. Ford is calling it a CUV or a compact utility vehicle, which is, more or less, a jazzier and beefed up version of the new Figo hatch. Ford’s signature trapezoidal grille, in an aggressive all-black honeycomb design and sweeping straight lines moving from front to the rear, give the All-New Freestyle robust, muscular, SUV-like looks.
There are a host of changes that give the Freestyle that unique, rugged persona it needs. This includes the tough looking cladding, the faux matte silver bash plates, and the stickering that runs along the side. It has got a set of roof rail that support upto 50kg of weight, and for some added versatility, you can choose roof cross bars as an option too. Other minor tweaks include a smoked headlamp, more prominent creases on the bonnet, and revised detailing for the tail lamp. Ford’s signature grille ditches the horizontal chrome slats for a mesh-like pattern that looks sharp in gloss black. Rounding things off are bigger 15 inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/65 section rubber.

The Ford Freestyle is going to be powered with the tried and tested 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine which churns out 100bhp of maximum power at 3750rpm and a peak torque of 215Nm at 1750 to 3000rpm and the 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine that generates 94bhp at 6500rpm of maximum power and peak torque of 120Nm at 4250rpm. The new Freestyle will sport a 5-speed transmission. ARAI certified mileage of petrol engine is 19 kilometer per litre and diesel engine gives you an impressive mileage of 24.4 kilometer per litre.

Ford Freestyle has got a new 6.5-inch touchscreen. But, it is only the top-spec Titanium plus variant that features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Ford’s SYNC 3 tech. The redesigned dash looks significantly more modern compared to the cluttered dash of the regular Figo. There is an added USB port next to the 12V socket, and that tiny shelf on the dash continues to be as useful as ever.

Overall length of the vehicle is 3954mm, overall width is 1737mm and overall height is 1570mm. Wheelbase of the vehicle is 2490mm and boot space is 257 litres. Kerb weight of the vehicle is in between 1044kg to 1080kg. Fuel tank capacity is 40 litres. Front brake is disc and rear brake is drum. minimum turning radius is 5 meters. Ground clearance of the vehicle is 190mm.
Other feature additions include a start-stop button, an updated MID, auto-dimming rear view mirror, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
Dual airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard across the range. The top-spec Titanium plus variant adds side and curtain airbags as well. There is some more tech in the form of traction control, electronic stability control and hill launch assist. There is Active Rollover Prevention as well, that cuts off power from individual wheels to prevent the car from, well, rolling over.
Ford freestyle’s ex-showroom price range starts from 6 lakh to 9 lakh Indian rupee.
