20 Things Proving That Japan Lives In 3018

What’s so special about Japan? 🇯🇵 Anyone who visits Japan will be amazed by something, like robots working as hotel staff or vending machines on every corner! 😮 We’ve collected 20 outstanding innovations proving that Japan must be living in 3018!

SUMMARY:
– Toilets in Japan, like their gadgets, are technologically advanced and user-friendly. Even the simpler ones still have built-in sinks on the tank and heated seats.
– The Japanese love everything that’s cute (or “kawaii” as they call it), like cats and anime characters with their large, adorable eyes. As for their pooches, the latest craze in Japan is to groom their dogs into perfectly trimmed cubes.
– High speed trains in Japan are designed like, well, a bullet, hence the name! These things can go up to 198 miles per hour and are known for their punctuality, comfort, safety, and efficiency.
– In Japan, they consider food preparation an art. A classic example is the glass display that showcases a restaurant’s dishes. In Japan, when you order food, it’s the same as what’s advertised!
– Most of us like our fries hot, crisp, and…black?! Nope, these charcoal-black fries aren’t burnt; they’re special fries made from a spicy black potato that you can buy at a cafe & bar in Kyoto.
– Inclusive Japanese brewers stamp the word “beer” in Braille on top of their cans, and they do it entirely out of sheer concern!
– Tattooing is a form of art in its own right, but Japan gave it an exciting twist. Known as “blacklight tattoos” or “UV tattoos,” this awesome ink uses a UV reactive fluoresce dye and comes to life when under UV light.
– “Mujin hanbai” or “unmanned stores” are a common site at roadsides in Japan. They’re a nice way for farmers to get rid of extra stock yet still make a nice coin for it.
– Japan is almost the same size as California, so they have to utilize the limited space they have. One of their solutions is intelligent parking systems started in 1965 by the Japan Parking System Manufacturers Association.
– If you wanna go to the beach but hate getting sunburned, then The Seagaia Ocean Dome is your answer for an unforgettable summer getaway. This is one of the world’s largest indoor waterparks and artificial beaches.
– “Smart bra” “knows” what its wearer feels and opens only when a woman is with someone she’s really into.

Single Activity: Why, When, and How (Android Dev Summit '18)

With the Navigation Architecture Component, developers have the tools to move towards a single activity structure for their app, but they don’t know:

— why they should move to that model
— when it is appropriate
— how exactly to take advantage of that structure and migrate to it

Testing Android Apps at Scale with Nitrogen (Android Dev Summit ’18)

Writing tests is a fundamental part of developing Android applications. Recent improvements to Android’s testing APIs make it straightforward to write tests, yet it is incredibly hard to run tests at scale. In this session we give an overview of project Nitrogen, the new Android test harness, which helps developers to scale their testing with support for test setup, execution, device management and reporting.

Fun with LiveData (Android Dev Summit ’18)

LiveData is a simple observable data holder that is aware of the lifecycle of the observers. It was designed to avoid memory leaks and null pointer exceptions between an activity or fragment and a ViewModel.

However, you can also use LiveData beyond the ViewModel. Components like Room or Workmanager also expose LiveData observables, and you can make your own data sources lifecycle-aware.

In this talk, we’ll deep dive into patterns with LiveData such as the different types of transformations (map, switchMap and MediatorLiveData), handling events and building reactive architectures as well as common antipatterns and code-smells to avoid.

How to Kotlin – from the Lead Kotlin Language Designer (Google I/O ’18)

Kotlin is similar to the Java programming language, so it’s natural that your Kotlin code looks very much like Java code when you are first start to use the language. While this is fine to begin with, you’re probably not taking full advantage of all the language benefits. In this session, the lead Kotlin language designer will show you how you can write more idiomatic Kotlin, what the benefits are, and help you discover some of the most powerful yet lesser known features of Kotlin.

12 Dangerous Android Apps You Need to Delete Immediately

Pay attention to the list of the most suspicious apps you may come across in Google Play. Delete them from your phone immediately to protect your personal data and extend the life of your phone.
Their creators promise the apps will optimize your device, extend the life of your battery and protect your phone from viruses. Some of them are even supposed to be lie detectors and defragmentation devices. In fact, all they give you is ads, and what they do is get access to your data and kill your battery. Considering the huge number of apps created every single day, not even Google can keep track and check the safety of all the new programs. So the security of your device mostly depends on you!

Weather apps 0:43
Social media apps 1:31
Optimizers 2:02
Built-in browsers 2:32
Antivirus programs from unknown developers 3:01
Browsers with additional features 4:26
Apps for increasing your phone’s memory 5:43
Lie detectors 6:14
Defragmentation apps 7:00
Music Player 7:28
Battery Savers and Fast Charge apps 7:51
Wi-Fi apps 8:23

SUMMARY
-There was a weather app that allowed the bad guys to avoid two-step authentication and easily get access to banking information of those who installed it.
-Social media apps suck up so much of your device’s energy and kill the battery too.
-Optimizers don’t make your phone’s system faster, they just slow it down and bring you ads as an added bonus.
-Built-in browsers are mostly slow-working and don’t have any protection from data interception.
-Hackers create their own antivirus apps, which can steal users’ personal data and even completely block the phone.
-You have at least two reasons two delete browsers from your phone: they slow it down, and require access to most aspects of the system, so they can even manage your calls.
-You won’t get more memory than your phone had initially, but will provide memory apps with access to your data.
-Lie detector apps are about as useful as crystal balls, but they kill your battery and get access to your contacts and personal data.
-Defragmentation apps don’t work like promised. They can only analyze how much space certain programs take up, use your phone’s resources and collect your personal data.
-You will want to delete this app because it consumes tons of data since it’s full of ads and causes a massive drain of your battery.
-Battery savers and fast chargers can’t really change the speed of your gadget charging, but can give you endless apps even on lock screen.
-If you don’t want these apps to get access to all your data, avoid them at all costs.

Google Nexus S Unboxing

Google Nexus S Unboxing Review by Aaron

Aaron unboxes the Google Nexus S, the successor to the Nexus One. It’s made by Samsung, and offers a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, gorgeous 4-inch curved Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera with flash, and a front-facing camera for video calling. Best of all, it’s sporting Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), the latest version of the popular mobile operating system.

Android 2.3 offers a few minor improvements over Android 2.2 (Froyo); a new transition effects, some minor color changes, and a revamped keyboard, among other things. Like the Galaxy S line, the Nexus S’ housing is plastic. The Nexus S will be available at Best Buy on December 16th for $199.99 with a two-year agreement, and $529.99 full retail.

Detailed Walk-Through of ROM Manager for Android | Pocketnow

Remember all those adb and fastboot commands I’ve told you about in previous posts? How about the “hand-gymnastics” that you have to perform to get into recovery mode? Hate having to go out and check for a new version of your custom ROM?

If you’ve ever wanted to flash a ROM, install a custom recovery image, partition an sdcard, or even run “fix permissions”, this app is the most powerful, easiest to use way to do not one, but all of those.
